Jee Soo Shin is an independent musician and composer. We met at the Seoulist Content Producer Workshop back in 2013. In 2014, I took photos of her group performance at the Seoul City Hall and we have been following each other’s activities on Facebook. She is pretty well-connected and knows many photographers, and I was really honored and flattered when she contacted me for her wedding photos. It felt as though she was endorsing my work and history.
I followed the couple on their wedding day from the make-up. They didn’t have a Paebaek at the end of the day, but the entire photo shoot still took about 4-5 hours. The venue at the Seoul National University was an interesting one. There was harsh light casting shadows in the bride’s waiting area in the morning, and in the wedding hall, there was strong backlighting. I really had to work with and around them. With backlight, you could get photos with light “hugging” your subjects with a sense of warmth, and I played with that a bit.
I am a documentary photographer and a working photojournalist. So my style is naturally more photojournalistic. I document candid and nuanced moments of your special day with seasoned eyes. Feel free to contact me for a quote and availability.
